A Rose and a Box of Chocolate…

Weekdays passed very quickly. Last day of the week and we were waiting for Diya’s car to come, when her mobile rang. She talked for a few seconds and ended the call. She looked dismayed.

What happened? any problem?” I asked Diya.

Yeah my car broke down and I don’t know how long it might take.”

Don’t worry we will drop you. Where do you live” I said.

No it’s okay.”

Don’t worry it’s not a big deal.”

You Sure? So nice of you. Thank you.”

Nisha would you mind sitting behind Rohit?”

Okay!” Then she whispered in my ears “Way to go Raj. Keep it up. Now break as many times as you want.”

I just blushed. Diya came and sat behind me and Nisha behind Rohit. We then rode to Diya’s place. As she was getting down, she said.

Will you guys care for a cup of coffee?” Diya asked.

Sure. Come on guys lets have a cup of coffee.” Nisha said.

Diya stayed in a huge bungalow in one of the posh areas of Kolkata. From the look of the place it seemed her parents were well to do. It was beautiful from inside. White marble flooring; walls full of paintings and the room lighted with chandeliers hanging from the huge ceiling.

Lovely house” I complimented Diya.

Ramu get four cup of coffee.” Diya instructed one of her house keeping staff. Then looking at us” You guys just sit I will change and come. Come Nisha I will show you my room,” then they moved upstairs.

Raj this house is awesome.” Rohit.

Yes. Nice isn’t it.”

Then one of her housekeeping staff brought us a cup of coffee. The cups were of crystal. Then behind him walked a beautiful lady, dressed in an elegant sari.

Hello, boys I am Diya’s mother.” She had a nice voice.

We got up.

”Hi aunty, I am Rohit and this is my friend Raj.”

Hello.”

In the meantime Diya came down with Nisha.

Hi Mom. These are my friends from college. Raj, Rohit and Nisha.”

Hello Nisha.”

Hello aunty.”

Have your coffee boys. Diya I am going out, please take care of your friends, make them comfortable.” looking towards Diya. Then she looked towards us “Feel at home.” She left in a Mercedes.

Thank you aunty, so sweet of you” I said to Diya’s mom as she left. “your mom is a lovely lady.” I said.

Yes she is, she was born in to the royal family in Kashmir.”

So Diya what are you doing today would you like to come with us for a movie.” Nisha asked.

I would love to see Mohabbatein, I heard its a lovely movie.”

Okay! We will go to lighthouse and also have dinner outside. So Raj will come and pick you up at 6. We will first have dinner at Tandoor and then push off for movie from there. Okay Raj.” Nisha looked at me with an amazing sparkle in her eyes. I almost let the coffee out, but I somehow managed the situation.

Sure why not.”

Okay I will be ready” said Diya.

We should leave now if we want to go to the movie” Rohit said.

Okay bye Diya.”

Bye guys. Bye Nisha.”

Diya came to leave us outside. We moved from there, Nisha sat behind me. As we reached home and Rohit left, Nisha stopped and said.

So Raj what do you think about Diya.”

She is beautiful and a nice girl. Why?”

No, just like that.”

Come on there must be something.”

Well, if I tell you promise me you won’t tell Diya.” Nisha was super excited as she said this.

Okay promise” I said.

When I went to Diya’s room she asked me if there was something going on between you and me. I said what rubbish. We are just very good friends. Then I felt something. I asked her and she said she liked you a lot. Actually Raj I shouldn’t have told you this, but I felt there were similar vibes from your side, so I asked you. Don’t tell her this that I told you. So … what do you think?”

Let’s go”

Come on Raj you can tell me. I am your friend ain’t I”

Of course you are, but so soon. I don’t even know her properly.”

Isn’t she a nice girl?”

Yes she is but…”

What but? come on Raj what else do you want in a girl, she is beautiful, a nice girl, and above all, she’s likes you.”

Well I like her too but I don’t know.”

Take your time. But I should be the first one to know.”

Ok”.

We moved to our homes and decided to meet in the parking lot at 5:30. Meantime I started thinking about Diya and what Nisha said. Too many thoughts were passing through my head. Need to relax a bit, a nice shower would help. Come to think of it, Nisha is right Diya is a nice girl. I like her too. She is beautiful and I have been paying a lot of attention to her during the course of the week. Not sure where this is headed.

After dressing up a bit for the evening I went straight down to mom.

Mom I need some money.”

Again”

Mom actually, mom actually the thing is…..”

Why are you stammering, say what’s on your mind.”

Actually mom I have to take my new college friends out for dinner.”

Who all are going?”

Just Rohit, Nisha, Diya and Myself.”

Who’s Diya?”

Mom she studies in my college, in my class.”

Someone special?” Mom said in a teasing tone.

Mom!!”

Ok take it from my purse. Bring her home someday.”

There is nothing like that.” I just blushed.

So what I want to meet her.”

Ok.”

Mom is also crazy. Every time I talk about a girl and she starts jumping the gun. I mean come on every time I mention a girl and she just jumps to her own conclusions. I was talking to myself as I walked down to the parking lot. Nisha and Rohit were waiting downstairs.

What happened Raj everything’s fine.” Rohit said in a very funny tone. Then he looked at Nisha. I guessed it Nisha must have told everything.

I will see you both later.”

You want to see Diya right now don’t you.”

You both are hopeless.”

I went to pick Diya, while Rohit and Nisha went to the Cinema directly to collect tickets. I picked up a rose and a box of chocolate on my way.
